Jessica Wicken

Wilmington, NC

The arts have saturated Jessica’s life through music, painting, and theater, each getting their focused time in accommodation with earning a living. Now living in North Carolina since 2022, after 26 years in Colorado, she is finding new inspiration and opportunities for both art and music here too.

Prior to Colorado, Jessica exhibited her paintings in Pittsburgh, PA, and then Washington DC where she also worked as a legislative aide on Capitol Hill before moving to New York City, when she made the (strangely logical at the time) switch to acting. After thirteen years as an actress, singer, and jeweler (and office temp) in New York City and Los Angeles, she went back to her art roots in Colorado in 1996.

She is the illustrator of two children’s books: “Can I Kayak Daddy?” by Joyce Autrey, and “You Are Not Alone” by Dorothy Davis. Other art-related jobs have been as a publicity artist for cabaret and theater productions and creating holiday-themed paintings for a card company.

Jessica Wicken was one of our performers in Denver for many years. Jessica loved to perform for our retirement community clients. A great voice, a wide repertoire and she sings fluently in Spanish! “Bonus! We have another performer for Cinco de Mayo!” I found out Jessica was a painter. More than just a painter, a wonderful painter; her colors are deep, warm, rich, soothing, sweetly nostalgic, and captures something in your memory banks and makes you smile.
